What is Sharp Picks Lab?
Sharp Picks Lab is an independent sports analytics research project. We are building data-driven models that aim to identify potential edges in the market by analyzing structural inefficiencies.
This is not a tipping service run by self-proclaimed "experts." This is an open, transparent research lab where every prediction is tracked, every result is published, and every failure is documented.
Our Approach
We combine statistical modeling with market analysis:
- Market-baseline models — We accept market odds as a strong starting point, then look for specific conditions where the market is weak
- Structural features — Schedule fatigue, player availability patterns, team performance trends
- Selective betting — We don't try to beat the market on every game. We target specific conditions where we believe an edge exists
- Full transparency — Every pick, every result, every metric is published. No cherry-picking wins
Current Status: Research Phase
We are currently in an active research and data accumulation phase.
Our models are rigorously tested against real market data, and we publish the results whether they look good or not. We are currently exploring multiple sports and market types to find where data-driven approaches can add genuine value.
What this means for you:
- All content is completely free during this phase
- Daily picks and results are posted on X (@argoevpicks) and this site
- Model accuracy metrics (CLV, ROI, Brier score) are tracked and will be published
- If and when our models prove their value, we will explore ways to share that edge with supporters
Honest Disclaimer
We believe in full transparency:
- There is no guarantee that our models will consistently beat the market
- Major sports betting markets are highly efficient. Finding real edges is extremely difficult
- If our research shows no actionable edge in a particular market, we pivot to explore other sports and market types
- We maintain realistic expectations about the difficulty of beating efficient markets
- This is a research project first, a business second
Our Goal
Build a site where visitors can find useful data-driven analysis to inform their decisions. No promises, no hype — just transparent, data-backed analysis that aims to add value.
If we can't deliver that, we'll say so honestly.
